The major problems facing humanity can be addressed with nanotechnology. Enschede is the centre of the Dutch Nanovalley. Saxion and Windesheim universities of applied sciences have joined forces in the HSTM Centre of Expertise for the Eastern Netherlands. The centre conducts excellent practice-based research in the field of nanotechnology and for the other technologies covered by the leading High Tech Systems and Materials industries. Its research programmes include robotics in health and social care, industrial process optimisation, digital printing and medical sensors.
